Let's Party - The Festive Look

December is the most favorite month of the year not because it is my Birthday month but there’s something about December that makes you want to party and have fun. Come December and the winter slowly starts to set in and there’s a sudden chill in the air which makes you carve for hot tea and pakodas. Picnics, excursions, weekend getaways, trekking plans are extensively made in this month. It also sets in the festive and party mood as it the entire world gears up to celebrate Christmas followed with the New Year.

The gravest question that a woman faces in this festive season every year is that What Should I wear? What should be my festive look? It is important for every woman to look beautiful as well something different, something new from others. I go through this dilemma almost every year when December suddenly approaches and I have nothing to wear. After going through many local boutiques and online stores, I finally stumbled upon the Shoppers Stop website

I was instantly attracted to the tagline, slogan of Shoppers Stop – Start Something New
And I knew that my search had finally come to an end.

As I browsed through the website, going through the latest trends, discounts, brands I picturised a hundred looks in my mind. Finally I decided on the below look for the upcoming festive season which is Simple, Sophisticated and Sober.

1)      The French Connection Lace Dress

Lace is one of the biggest trends of the year and a must have in every wardrobe. The lace beautifully lends a feminine touch to the black color and saves it from being monotonous. Since its an A line dress it would compliment any body that wears it, it would also look great on pear shaped women as it accentuates their waste taking away the attention  from the hips and for the leaner bodies it creates a slight curve by distinguishing the lower body from the upper half which would otherwise look straight.

2)      Inc 5 Footwear

The perfect Black Peep toes with a bow compliment perfectly a lace dress.

3)      French Connection-Ladies Lunar Glimpse Studded Clutch

Add a oomph factor with this studded clutch to the sober lace dress and peep toes and let it do all the talking  It will add a glamour touch to the outfit and balance the Sophistication – Glamour Quotient perfectly.

4)      AYESHA - Sparkling Gold Bow Hair Sliders

To keep your hair in place with style J

5)      DKNY - Womens Watch - NY8595

You don’t want to be late for the party ? Do you ? J

6)      Infinity Necklace -059558GCC

A liitle bling to brighten up the outfit.

7)      Roberto Cavalli - Eau De Parfum Spray for her - 50 ml

Last but not the least, Roberto Cavalli Parfum Spray to help you smell good with Top Notes: Pink Peppercorn and Green Mandarin it is a definite head turner.

The festive season is lot about flaunting your style and letting your hair down after a whole year of work and happenings. Maybe that is why we celebrate the Christmas and New Year with pomp and Joy to bade a goodbye to all the doings and happenings that happened in the previous year with a smile. Also expensive clothes, accessories cannot make you look beautiful if you lack the confidence to carry a particular look or are uncomfortable with what you wear. Hence whether designer wear or not feel confident and happy and this will make you stand out amongst the crowd.

Keep Smiling :)

Happy Christmas and A Happy New Year to all readers :)

Quick Fixes - Flaky Scalp

The weather's been behaving really odd lately, its cold one day and the next day its hot as a desert. All these weather changes do have a huge impact on your hair, skin and the health. Your scalp gets flaky, there are skin eruptions and redness, your skin becomes oily or dry all of a sudden. The worst part is even the best of the cosmetics cannot combat these changes in your body caused by the weather changes. Its like you just have to let your skin/hair let go behave the way it wants and you can do nothing about it.....

One such most common weather related change that happens with your hair is flaky scalp. You get these white flakes aka dandruff in your hair, you panic about it, use almost every possible dandruff shampoo available in the market, it goes for a day or two and the next day its there... You almost tear your hair in despair... L

So for all you people with such a dilemma here's a very simple tried and tested quick fix for your flaky scalp.
  • Squeeze a whole lemon/nimbu juice in a bowl.

  • Before applying the juice to your hair go through your scalp and identify the areas where the scalp is flaky.

  • Apply the lemon juice to these areas i.e. the scalp.
  • You can also rub the remaining juice to your hair; it will give a nice glossy shine to your hair.
  • Wash your hair after 30-35 minutes.
  • While shampooing apply the shampoo to the scalp (flaky areas). Do not scratch.
Repeat the same for 3 consecutive days or once in a week as per your convenience. You will notice the difference -the skin is less flaky and in some cases the flakes disappear altogether. Also the itching reduces and the hair is glossier thanks to the citric acid in the lemon juice.

This Quick fix is for the ones whose hair is suddenly attacked by a bout of flaky scalp subject to the weather. I don't know if the same will work for people suffering from a serious condition of dandruff from a long time. I think such people should rely on medications first. Also Dandruff aka flaky scalp is caused by the weather changes as well as on our daily body cycle also. There should be a slight change in our eating habits; preferably having a balanced diet as per the weather changes and good night sleep is necessary to combat the flaky scalp. Even a minor change in our daily body cycle can cause turmoil like a flaky scalp.

Bye Bye Dry Skin- Hello, Nivea Visage !

The other day I went for some girlie shopping and I was really very close to getting broke. I quickly browsed through my shopping list and yes I had forgotten an essential ingredient for the winters - The Cold Cream. Its really difficult to pick up a good cold cream for your skin from the whole lot of claimants who say how their product is better than others. So after a lot of speculations, I chose Nivea Visage- Sparkling Glow (Fairness Day Care Cream).

I liked the packaging of Nivea and the bottle is really safe inside those layers of packing..:), Besides the bottle is cute too... (Cute is a criteria for shopping for us, isn't it??)

Product Action :

It claims to work not only on the surface but repairs up to 12 layers deep within the skin to give a natural glow. It also has White crystallites and White pure actives, Carnitine and Advanced UVA/UVB Filters.

Price : Rs.289/- (for 50ml) ♥ ♥ ♥

How to use it best

Apply it after having a bath on the damp skin or at the night before going to bed. You can also use it daily as a moisturiser as it gets easily absorbed into the skin.

Pros :
  • Though it’s a Fairness Day Care cream it works so good both as a cold cream and a moisturiser.Gets absorbed into the skin without leaving it sticky or greasy. So you can just apply it before going to college or office without worrying that you might carry the dirt and grime to your workplace/ college.
  • Doesn't clog your pores. (A huge plus point !)
  • Skin does glow after its use. Mine really did. ☺
  • The Price (Rs.289/-) it’s so reasonable and pocket friendly.

Cons
  • Don't know if it can suit the skin during harshest winters. But it does suit the Bombayiya Winter and Puneri Thandi..:). Don’t know if it will work as well for a dry skin since I have a normal skin.

Gypsy's Verdict

Totally in love with Nivea as of now. Didn’t expect a Day Cream to work so well. I have a normal skin so I wanted a cold cream which doesn’t make my skin greasy or block my pores and I got the perfect moisturiser cum cold cream cum day cream.
