Quick Fixes - Flaky Scalp

The weather's been behaving really odd lately, its cold one day and the next day its hot as a desert. All these weather changes do have a huge impact on your hair, skin and the health. Your scalp gets flaky, there are skin eruptions and redness, your skin becomes oily or dry all of a sudden. The worst part is even the best of the cosmetics cannot combat these changes in your body caused by the weather changes. Its like you just have to let your skin/hair let go behave the way it wants and you can do nothing about it.....

One such most common weather related change that happens with your hair is flaky scalp. You get these white flakes aka dandruff in your hair, you panic about it, use almost every possible dandruff shampoo available in the market, it goes for a day or two and the next day its there... You almost tear your hair in despair... L

So for all you people with such a dilemma here's a very simple tried and tested quick fix for your flaky scalp.
  • Squeeze a whole lemon/nimbu juice in a bowl.

  • Before applying the juice to your hair go through your scalp and identify the areas where the scalp is flaky.

  • Apply the lemon juice to these areas i.e. the scalp.
  • You can also rub the remaining juice to your hair; it will give a nice glossy shine to your hair.
  • Wash your hair after 30-35 minutes.
  • While shampooing apply the shampoo to the scalp (flaky areas). Do not scratch.
Repeat the same for 3 consecutive days or once in a week as per your convenience. You will notice the difference -the skin is less flaky and in some cases the flakes disappear altogether. Also the itching reduces and the hair is glossier thanks to the citric acid in the lemon juice.

This Quick fix is for the ones whose hair is suddenly attacked by a bout of flaky scalp subject to the weather. I don't know if the same will work for people suffering from a serious condition of dandruff from a long time. I think such people should rely on medications first. Also Dandruff aka flaky scalp is caused by the weather changes as well as on our daily body cycle also. There should be a slight change in our eating habits; preferably having a balanced diet as per the weather changes and good night sleep is necessary to combat the flaky scalp. Even a minor change in our daily body cycle can cause turmoil like a flaky scalp.

  1. I've noticed that I have a flaky scalp recently, so these are very useful tips for me, thank you. And I definitely agree that healthy hair begins with healthy scalp, it's sort of like how healthy plants grow in good soil right? :)
